Team Lead

You're interested in helping organizations become data-minded and your idea of fun involves scalable compute clusters or massive data processing. You are convinced sensor data and IoT will have a big impact on society in the coming years and you want to be part of that shift. You are a fan of open-source technology and you are not blind to its pitfalls. You are eager to learn and you like to work in a dynamic, no-nonsense scale-up environment.


At Data Minded, data engineers are at the heart of what we do. As part of our young and fast-growing team based in Belgium, you take part in complex data analytics projects through their entire lifecycle. Besides design and implementation, this also includes identifying and communicating customer value, analyzing customer needs, and following up on project delivery.


We are currently looking for team leads who take on the mission of developing people and teams and supporting them in making our customers successful.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer needs, maturity, and ambitions

  • Understand and communicate industry and functional context

​

  • Ensure successful project deliveries

​

  • Develop, steer, and communicate the purpose of the customer engagement

​

  • Engage, inspire, and enable the full team, their work, and responsibilities in line with the purpose of the customer engagement

​

  • Influence priorities and backlog of work (e.g. technical debt), and coach the team in their daily activities

​

  • Drive tech thought leadership & innovation

​

  • Create awareness about key strategic design choices, and architect paved roads, without knowing exactly what the future is

​

  • Continuously improve tech way of working and push for sustainable practices

​

  • Debug the most hairy challenges, including organizations and processes

Required qualifications

  • Over 5 years of experience in software development, solution engineering, and technical consulting; with expertise in architecting and rolling out new technology and solutions

​

  • Excellent coding skills (C, Scala, Java, Python, Golang, etc.)

​

  • Good understanding of cloud possibilities and limitations in the areas of distributed systems, load balancing and networking, massive data storage, and security

​

  • Experience with big data technologies is a plus

​

  • Proven innovative thinker who is sought out by co-workers for inspiration

​

  • Proven experience with leading and coaching technical teams

​

  • Has developed future-proof architectures without exactly knowing that the future is

​

  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English; willingness to learn Dutch and/or French
