Senior Data Engineer
You're interested in helping organizations become data-minded and your idea of fun involves scalable compute clusters or massive data processing. You are convinced sensor data and IoT will have a big impact on society in the coming years and you want to be part of that shift. You are a fan of open-source technology and you are not blind to its pitfalls. You are eager to learn and you like to work in a dynamic, no-nonsense scale-up environment.
At Data Minded, data engineers are at the heart of what we do. As part of our young and fast-growing team based in Belgium, you take part in complex data analytics projects through their entire lifecycle. Besides design and implementation, this also includes identifying and communicating customer value, analyzing customer needs, and following up on project delivery.
We are currently looking for senior (data) engineers to take care of the most challenging and hairy data projects and help our talented team and customers grow. Experienced software engineers with an emerging passion for data are welcome! At least 5 years of experience is a must.

Responsibilities

Architect, develop, and deploy a wide range of data applications, in the cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

Design complex analytics solutions with large data sets on distributed systems

Set and direct the technology vision of an entire data product or service

Provide thought leadership for clients and partners to help them understand the data analytics landscape

Make technical teams successful

Develop a sense of purpose for a full client engagement

Debug organizations and processes
Required qualifications
-
Over 5 years of experience in software development, solution engineering, and technical consulting; with expertise in architecting and rolling out new technology and solutions

Excellent coding skills (C, Scala, Java, Python, Golang, etc.)

Good understanding of cloud possibilities and limitations in the areas of distributed systems, load balancing and networking, massive data storage, and security

Experience with big data technologies is a plus

Proven innovative thinker who is sought out by co-workers for inspiration

Proven experience with leading and coaching technical teams

Has developed future-proof architectures without exactly knowing that the future is

Highly proficient in spoken and written English; willingness to learn Dutch and/or French
